DC #35 Endorses Guy Glodis for MA State Auditor
Guy Glodis, a former State Representative and State Senator with a 100% Labor voting record, is currently Worcester County Sheriff. As a Legislator, Glodis supported Project Labor Agreements, stronger enforcement of prevailing wage and other Labor laws and restoring Workers Compensation benefits for injured workers to 66% of average weekly wage.
District Council #35's endorsement came after candidates for State Auditor made presentations to the leadership of all 14 Local Unions that are affiliated with the Council.

Massachusetts is becoming a tougher place to run wage scams. The Governor’s Task Force on the Underground Economy is putting a bullseye on employers who pay under the table or offer “independent contractor” status to employees. These are what we call “bad jobs”. Why do we call them “bad jobs”?
Mayor Menino Thanks Painters and Community Partners
Boston Mayor Tom Menino (shown above with 1st year painting apprentices) was full of praise for DC 35 and its community partners for successfully completing the re-paint of the Washington Irving School in Roslindale and Madison Park High School in Roxbury during the summer. The Mayor attended a celebration held by Community Labor United on December 4th at which he was given an award for his role in encouraging the partnership on the two jobs. Area residents were recruited with help from a variety of community groups, and the DC 35 Training Department referred successful candidates to the two projects. DC 35 also received an award for its commitment to the program.
